It had been already two months since her daughter moved out. Now, with the silence weighing on her, she felt uneasy. She had spent so much time dealing with her hyper daughter that now it all looked weird. No running, no yelling or singing, no music invading the house. All gone. She found herself always trying to be busy with any activity or little job she found, any distraction so the emptiness of the house didn’t overwhelm her.

Wakana was always an excellent headache to be distracted with but she couldn’t depend on that anymore. Sometimes she looked around and wished her daughter was there. She missed Wakana, of course she did, but the decision she made was final. She couldn’t hold her daughter back for more time, not after the chance came.

She remembered the day she had to wheedle out of Wakana the fact that Moriko suggested to move out together. She noticed her daughter’s doubts and indecision; not because she didn’t think she was ready but because of Hisui. Even if she was seen as a reckless and self-centered girl sometimes, she did think about others all the time. Especially her closest ones. Wakana wanted to take the offer and move out but at the same time she didn’t want to leave her mother all alone in the house where all those memories lived. She didn’t want her mother to endure the solitude that house would bring. Those were Wakana’s
restrained emotions, and they were so obvious. Well, at least to her mother.

It was true that the house was too big for Hisui alone but, for god’s sake, she was a grown-up woman and a former kunoichi, she could take care of herself. So, after knowing about Moriko’s offer, Hisui did her best to make Wakana leave. She always looked very happy and eager with the idea of her daughter out of the house.

She blinked when remembering that fact. Was she acting too much? Did it seem like she didn’t want Wakana around? Everything she did, even if a tiny part of her was afraid of being alone, was for Wakana’s sake. She didn’t want to hold back her daughter in that house like she didn’t have any other choice in life. And now that she thought again about her actions back then, maybe she acted a bit too cold and
hostile; but her daughter was a smart girl, she surely understood what was going on… right?

Hisui sighed a bit worried.
Did I do well? she asked herself.

<< You did wonderful >> Shin’s voice echoed, making Hisui blink. She quickly looked around, but of course there was no one there.

She sighed once more and a soft smile curved her lips. “Yeah, you’re right. She’ll be fine, she’s a tough girl” she said as if Shin was really there. “She’s our daughter after all” she chuckled. She felt a bit more relieved. Wakana was smart, she understood why she acted like she did. Hisui was sure of that.

After believing she heard Shin’s voice, her train of thoughts went towards him. How would it have been if Shin had been there? He would have been proud of her for encouraging their daughter to live her own life instead of being stranded in that house, living in the past; and he would have been so frustrated because the person she moved out with wasn’t Masaru.

She laughed after thinking of that. Her husband sure had a fixation with Masaru and Wakana since they both were children. She could understand it somehow, though; they were really cute together and shared a especial connection. You only needed to look at the two of them together to see how much they influenced each other, and he was a good influence on Wakana. She always admired him for his patience and kindness towards the pineapple lover, and she was kind of a softie around her best friend. It’s not like Masaru tamed Wakana, because Wakana can’t be tamed, but he made her daughter be softer. She really wanted to treat her best friend as well as she could.

Thinking of that, we could say Shin had a strong determination, even if it was only with that subject. She laughed once more. We could compare Shin’s fixation with Wakana’s obsession with pineapples.
She got that from you, Shin, she smiled softly, feeling as if her husband was there with her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders.

The sound of the doorbell ringing startled Hisui, breaking her thoughts and increasing a bit the rhythm of her heartbeats. She walked curiously to the door wondering who could it be.

“Hey, mom” Wakana greeted with a smile when Hisui opened the door. The mother stayed still where she was, her eyes a bit more open than usual and staring at Wakana. What a coincidence to see her daughter right in front of her after all the thinking she just did. “Everything ok?” she asked waving her hand in front of Hisui’s face, watching her mother was paralyzed at the door frame.

“Hm?” she blinked, laughing a bit. “Yeah, yeah, everything’s fine. How come my independent and grown-up daughter is here?” she asked faking surprise.

“I was walking by and I thought it would be nice to come” she simply replied, shrugging a bit. She stared at her mother for a while, silent. There was something strange.

“What?” Hisui asked.

“Even if you say you’re ok, there is something” she squinted her eyes and got a bit closer to her mother. Right, Wakana was sharp with those things, Hisui almost forgot.

“Well, let’s say I missed my daughter” Hisui smirked and talked with an indifferent voice, as if it was a joke; even if it was actually what happened.

Wakana blinked. She was kinda shocked, she didn’t expect that answer; and, even if her mother faked a joke, she knew what she said was true. So she couldn’t help wrapping her arms around her mother and pulling her into a tight hug, for Hisui’s surprise. “You know I love you, right?”

As surprised as she was, Hisui took a while to react but she could only smile. She hugged her daughter and enjoyed the
contact of her daughter’s body against hers. She missed that so much, the warmth of another person, the warmth of her little girl. “Where is my daughter?” she asked out of the blue, “she’s not the type of doing these things. You’re an imposter.”

Wakana frowned and pushed her mother, breaking the hug. “WHY THE HELL DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO RUIN THESE MOMENTS, MOM?!” she said loudly to her mother, only to see how she burst out laughing for her reaction.

“Oh, come on, you love me anyway. Come here” she opened her arms and walked towards her daughter.

“No!!” she walked away from her, “I won’t hug you anymore, woman!!” she moved away to dodge her mother, who was following her with her arms open. Hisui couldn’t help teasing her daughter like that, her reactions were really funny. Besides, by doing that she got distracted and remembered the old times.

As she chased after her daughter and laughed for Wakana’s exaggerated reaction the house shone once more with the same energy it used to. It didn’t matter how long she had to wait to feel so bright and full again, she surely would be able to feel it again. There was no solitude strong enough to defeat the happy times they shared in that house.
I blame :iconbakanogabi: for giving me feels with a fic she showed me and making me want to write something about Hisui when Wakana is not there :iconsopsplz: hahahahah idk
